Thomas Elwin Lynch was born in Mexico, Maine in 1914. He attemded South Portland High School and was graduated from the University of Maine in 1938 with a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering. He attended Case Institute of Technology where he took courses in physics and Massaschusetts Institute of Technology for courses in business.
