Thomas Elwin Lynch was born in Mexico, Maine in 1914. He attemded South Portland High School and was graduated from the University of Maine in 1938 with a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering. He attended Case Institute of Technology where he took courses in physics and Massaschusetts Institute of Technology for courses in business. This electrical manufacturing company was founded in 1919. Standard Electric Manufacturing Company was the name used in the 1930's and 1940's.
